Chinatown Guide: Sweets & Snacks
My Chinatown Favorites Part 2
Please note that eating sweets, especially cold/dairy post acupuncture is not recommended! But for those with strong digestion and are not suffering from cold, damp and phlegm conditions, here are my favorite places for sweets and snacks.
46 MOTT BAKERY 46 Mott Street. The best homemade stuff like silken toufu dessert, zong zi sticky rice and buns. My Faves: bai tang gao, soybean milk
ALIMAMA 89A Bayard Street. Cream puffs, mochi donuts and beautiful tea concoctions! My faves: lychee rose latte, brown sugar boba cream puff, creme brulee mochi donut. Note: There are vegan menu items.
KAIGO COFFEE ROOM 120 C Lafayette Street. Coffee offered all different ways. Try their flavored lattes, with multiple milk alternatives. Smoothies, teas and pastries. My Faves: Black sesame latte, taro latte.
MISS DU’S TEA SHOP 33 Pell Street. Fruity bubble teas with non-caffeinated options that are good for kids. My Faves: dragon fruit yakult, lemon passion fruit yakult
TIGER SUGAR BUBBLE TEA 197 Canal Street. Just get the original option. No need to tweak what already works so well!
FAY DA BAKERY 83 Mott Street. Get all the classic good stuff like dan tat, hot dog bun, coconut cream, bun, roll cakes, milk tea, pork buns, etc. My Faves: Roll cake for get togethers
KAM HING BAKERY 118 Baxter Street. Classic sponge cakes in many flavors, teas and coffee. My faves: pandan, lychee rose. Note: right downstairs!
KEKI MODERN CAKES 79 Mott Street. Bouncy cheese cakes, tarts, cream puffs and soft serve. My fave: ube bouncy cheese cake
SPONGIES CAFE 121 Baxter Street. Hong Kong style sponge cakes in many flavors, coffee and teas. My faves: pandan coconut sponge cake, banana chocolate chip sponge cake, Thai tea. Note: right across the street!
TAIPAN BAKERY 184 Canal Street. Classic Chinese Bakery items like pork floss buns, dan tat, pork buns. My faves: coconut cream buns, ham and egg sandwich, dan tat
TAIYAKI 119 Baxter Street. Fish-shaped waffle cone with the most delicious soft serve. My faves: hojicha flavored soft serve, traditional taiyaki with red bean filling (not always available but a safe post-acupuncture treat). Note: Lines can be long on hot days but they keep it moving. They are across the street from me!
