Acupressure Points for Back Pain

Acupressure is safe and can be easily self-administered. Here are some points you can try when you have back pain.

Luo zhen is found in the divot between the index and middle finger bones just behind the knuckles. This point is great usually for upper back and neck pain. Indicated specifically for a stiff neck.

San Jiao 3 (SJ3) or sometimes referred to as triple warmer 3 can be found in the divot between the ring and pinky finger bones just behind the knuckles. This point is also great for upper back and neck pains.

Yao Tong Xue are two points found when you place two fingers on the above acu points ( luo zhen and SJ3) then slide your fingers towards the direction of the wrist until they fall into two divots where the finger bones seem to make a V-shape on the dorsal or back of the hand. These points are indicated for low back and hip pain.

It is common for pain conditions to use the points on the opposite side of the pain but in this case I suggest to use or try both sides (right and left). Though some points are indicated for the upper or lower back they can still be effective for pain anywhere in the back. See images below for visual locations.
